Thirsty Thursday: Grapefruit Basil Spritzer

Posted on June 6th, 2012  |  6 Comments

I don’t know about you, but this was one hell of a week.

And I only started on Tuesday.

Yes, I know I’m only 2 days in…

But guess what?!

Tomorrow’s Friday!

Chaayeaaaa!!

Friday makes everything better, now doesn’t it?

Something else that makes things better… herbs.

Fresh herbs are summer’s best friend. Mint, thyme, basil… Ahh, all that bright green glory.

Perfect for a spritzer I tell ya.

A spritzer to remind me of my visit in Atlanta this past weekend, a spritzer just like the amazing one I had at my friend’s fiance’s restaurant, The Big Ketch, a spritzer to welcome the Summer and give my basil plant a good clipping.

A spritzer full of inspiration… and refreshing Summer bounty.

Sounds like a weekend solution to me.

Tastes like one too!

Where do you find inspiration?

Thirsty Thursday: Grapefruit Basil Spritzer

by The Talking Kitchen

Prep Time: 2-3 minutes

Ingredients (1 serving)

  • 6 basil leaves
  • 2 oz vodka
  • 2 oz freshly squeezed grapefruit juice (I used 1 whole small grapefruit)
  • 1/4-1/2 tsp coconut nectar (substitute: agave)
  • splash club soda

Instructions

First, pour the vodka in to a glass, add the coconut nectar and stir to dissolve, then add the basil and set aside.

Juice the grapefruit over a strainer to catch the pulp.

Fill the vodka cup with ice, add the grapefruit juice and a splash of club soda.

Stir and enjoy!

  1. lovely summery pictures, and I’m digging the flavor combo. Basil is fun to throw in to unexpected flavor combinations. I was experimenting with basil lemonade and limeade the other day too.
