Juice is in

Do you like knowing what’s up and coming? Being in on the know? Up to date with the latest digs? Me not so much, I haven’t gone shopping since 2008, but I’ll tell you something bout this juicing fad, I’m hooked.

Got on board about a year ago, Luis and I did a clean detox (which was truly amazing by the way), each morning we’d have a freshly blasted squeezed veggie/fruit juice. What a way to start the day. Outstanding! Changed my outlook on life. I’m telling you drinking one of the most nutritious liquid substances on earth has mental and physical perks!

Why so nutritious you ask? Well, besides the obvious answer, duh, it’s all vegetables and fruits, the actual process of juicing makes it even better for you.

That sentence just made me think of a quote from Clueless. Def in my top 5 movies all time. My sis Meg and I taped it off of Pay-Per-View circa 1996. Hey sis, miss you. So excited for you!

Speaking of Clueless, you may be able to lose a few of the L-Bs by having a juice as a meal once a day for a week or two. Totally worth the effort and taste if you ask me. Hand over a fresh juice over slimfast any day.

Oh wait. I was about to start explaining something up there. How the juicing process helps you absorb all those fabulous nutrients from the veggies faster than eating them. Think of the route of admission. When you go to the hospital and you are really sick you get an IV for fluids/medications, not a glass of water and pills. Why? You know why. IV’s have the intended effect on your body much quicker than drinking water to hydrate and pills for pain or antibiotics. It takes time and energy for your body to break things down, such as food. The juicing process takes care of this part so all your body has to do is absorb the nutrients, resulting in a cleansing effect. A really dynamite feeling. I invite you to try it. My first juicer was 30$ from Target and it worked great.

Nutritious you say, who cares? I don’t know, me a little, but I care more about the F and E, Flavor and Effect. You care about those little guys? How did it taste and how did it make you feel? I can honestly say I have not made a juice to date that I did not really like. I like some more than others, but I truly enjoy them all. Flavor, check! As for the effect :) it’s great. I mentioned before the euphoria I was feeling from drinking these every morning, but the amount of energy I have from a simple little juice is mind-blowing. Effect, check! What are you waiting for? Get juicing!

2 beets

1 cucumber

2 carrots

1/4 head cabbage

4 leaves swiss chard

1 lemon/lime, peeled

8 whole strawberries

or try this one

1 orange, peeled

1/2 lemon, peeled

2 plums, pit removed

2 stalks celery

1/4 head cabbage

1/2 melon (I have a Korean melon, but you can use cantelope or watermelon)

1 cucumber

2 carrots

4 leaves kale

Before juicing I give everything a quick wash. <– when juicing I REALLY try to use all organic, maximum absorption applies to all parts of the food, not just the healthy micronutrients. Check out the EWG‘s list of the most pesticide sprayed foods, and avoid those (1. apples, 2. celery, 3. strawberries.. just to name a few.) I also prep everything by cutting into big chucks or peeling the skin, the leaves I just roll up into a ball. Once the veggies/fruit are all ready to be juiced check out the directions for your juicer, (each is a little different) and give it a go! Soon you’ll be enjoying a refreshing healthy beverage bursting with flavor, why wait!
