Are you into the green?

Green living.

Green eating.

Green drinking?

Scary right?

Don’t be! These bad boys are so deceiving, I’m tricked every time I take a sip.

Blended to smoothness that just looks so…. green. healthy. spinach like. kale like….green. healthy. aka gross in a lot of people’s minds.

But it’s not!!

I promise!

I also promise drinking it out of a wine glass is just oh so classy. And totally the ‘in’ thing to do. I of course know. I do live in Long Beach after all. :)

For real though, if you have the right combination, you can’t taste the green. Depending what you put in, you can taste the pineapple, orange, strawberries, and bananas, but kale and spinach flavors aren’t busting through. yay!

Their color and nutrients are all I care about circa 7 am in da morning, and that’s what I get.

Nutrient yourself! Make a green smoothie!

Prep Time: 2-3 minutes

Cook Time: 1-2 minutes


Ingredients (2 servings)

  • 2 small oranges, peeled
  • 1.5 c. pineapple chunks
  • 2 celery sticks
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 c. spinach, loosely packed
  • 6-8 kale leaves
  • 2 Tbsp flax-seed oil
  • 1.5 c. water
  • 5 ice cubes

Instructions

Peel the orange and pineapple.

Cut everything into chunks and add all the ingredients to the blender.

Blend until smooth.

    What might help with the prep time a little is leaving the peel on the orange. It is okay to eat, and contains lots of fiber, a little protein, and lots of vitamins. It can be very bitter however, so it would be best to experiment first.

    All in all, looks like a great green smoothie. Thanks!

    Just out of curiosity whats a replacement for kale leaves? something that won’t ruin the taste of the smoothie? Kale leaves are not available where I live!
