I am sure most would agree.
And some of those most might think there’s no other option if they want to enjoy fun foods like crackers, chips, and fries.
Whelp, I’m here to show you otherwise.
You can have your cake and eat it too!
You can have non fried, non frozen, fresh from the earth, purely potato fries. sweet style.
Cut into fry shapes. Toss with olive oil and bake.
Finish ‘em off with a good coating of sea salt. Black pepper, you’re welcome to come too.
I like the conventional fry shape, but steak fries are great too. Crunchy on the outside with that puffy interior. Yum!
Meant to be eaten, not stored. Freshly baked french fries, garlic cilantro or sweet style is where it’s at.
What do you make at home that tastes better than the boxed?
baked sweet potato fries
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Ingredients (2 – 4 servings)
- 2 sweet potatoes, cut into 1/2 inch thick fry shapes, or your favorite fry shape
- 1-2 Tbsp grapeseed oil
- 1/2-1 tsp sea salt
Start by preheating the oven to 400 degree and arrange the oven so there is a middle rack. Prep a baking sheet with parchment paper, set aside.
Peel the potatoes and cut into 1/2 inch thick fries.
In a medium bowl, toss the cut fries with oil, arrange on the baking sheet in a single layer.
Bake for 10 minutes, remove from oven, flip fries using tongs so you don’t burn yourself (talking to you Lauren) return to oven and bake for another 10 minutes. Be careful around this part, you will want to watch them as they can easily burn.
Once cooked, remove from oven, toss with sea salt and let cool on a cooling rack for optimal crunch (I also skipped the salt on one batch and enjoyed them with salty feta cheese, amazing!)
